Our Veterinary Team

Dr. Mary Ann Johansen, DVM

Dr. MaryAnn Johansen graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. After practicing in a mixed animal practice for a few years she decided to venture out on her own and opened Converse Animal Hospital in 1997. She has a special interest in soft tissue surgery and preventive health care. Dr. Johansen and her husband currently reside in an apartment over their barn that houses their four horses and a pony. Also in residence are 4 dogs named Shadow, Jewel, Beau and Marcus as well as 3 cats named Stanley, PC and Big Cat. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking and gardening.

Dr. Sarah Chude, DVM, Medical Director

Dr. Chude has been with Converse Animal Hospital since 2005, living out her life long dream of helping both pets and people through the practice of high-quality medicine. Dr. Chude attended Texas A & M for her undergraduate work on an academic scholarship. She then received the opportunity to attend veterinary school overseas at St. George’s University, spending 3 years in Grenada, West Indies and her final year of clinical studies at University College Dublin, Ireland. While still in high school and undergrad, she authored and co-authored several books, primarily on animal sciences. Having grown up in a military household, Dr. Chude loves raising her family in San Antonio. She enjoys horseback riding, fencing, camping, reading and various crafts.

Dr. Fara Flados, DVM

I was born and raised in Austin Tx, but I have come to find San Antonio as my second home. In my free time, I love reading and many outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, etc. I received both my bachelor’s in Bio-Medical Sciences in 2009 and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 From Texas A & M University. Whoop! I am currently a member of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Veterinary Medical Association. Having witnessed the natural ageing issues of my own animals, my aim is to keep your pets happy and healthy as long as possible by providing high-quality medicine and treatment.
